Kellie Pickler and the parents of her late husband, country songwriter Kyle Jacobs, have settled a years-long court battle over his belongings. The confidential agreement, reported by TMZ on November 4, ends a dispute that included his phone, watches, musical equipment and firearms. Its terms have not been disclosed.
A Dispute Over What Was Left Behind
The dispute pitted Pickler against Jacobs’ parents, Reed and Sharon Jacobs. In court filings described by TMZ, the couple sought an iPhone, a Rolex watch, jewelry, instruments, computer drives, a laptop, baseball cards and firearms they said belonged to their son.
Pickler disputed the claims, arguing that at least some of the items could belong to her. Jacobs’ parents continued pursuing their return through court. The filings showed opposing claims of ownership, but the reported settlement leaves the division of individual items private.
The Family History Behind the Case
Jacobs, a Nashville songwriter and producer, died on February 17, 2023, at 49. His death was ruled a suicide. Pickler and Jacobs had been married since 2011. What followed was a dispute between his widow and parents over possessions left after his death.
The settlement ends that litigation without a public ruling assigning the disputed property. TMZ did not report whether any money changed hands or which family member received each item.
A Settlement Without Public Terms
For now, the family has an agreement - and the public has no accounting of what happened to the phone, watches, instruments and other belongings that had kept the case in court.
